Good Samaritans

Some Mount Vernon community associations have initiated Good Samaritan programs in which neighbors have volunteered to help their neighbors with transportation and other needs when other assistance is not readily available. This can be done by including in a membership questionnaire, such as often used to compile the residents directory, a place for the respondent to check, "Please call on me as a Good Samaritan. Let me know if there is a neighbor who has a particular need." These confidential responses are compiled by the association president who designates a person to be called when such assistance is needed.
