Housing Assistance

Emergency housing for the homeless is provided by the County's Department of Family Services (formerly called the Department of Human Development). Call 324-7800 during County government business hours.

Walk-in service for homeless adults is provided at the Eleanor Kennedy Shelter, 9155 Richmond Highway, 799-0200, on a first-come basis, first-served basis. Open 24 hours. Individuals may phone ahead to learn if there are beds available.

Temporary housing for persons with disabilities, as well as emergency financial assistance and house-hold budget counseling is provided by the Housing Counseling and Placement Program at 324-5171. They will also help prevent utility cutoffs for eligible low and moderate income residents.
