Hunting

Licenses are required to hunt or otherwise use FIREARMS* in the County. Hunting licenses, valid July 1 through June 30, are issued by the state and may be purchased at many hardware and sporting goods stores.

Game Warden. The county no longer has a game warden. Questions may be referred to the Department of Animal Control in Fairfax, 830-3310. Hours are 6:00 am to 10:30 pm weekdays, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm weekends. The state game warden is the best source of information on hunting and is located in Fredricksburg at (540) 899-4169.
