Yard Sales

Signs. As a courtesy to your neighbors, please put up your signs no more than a day in advance of your sale date and take them down immediately after the sale. State law and county ordinance prohibit attaching your signs to the public street signs, utility poles, or traffic control signs. See SIGNS. In practice, few residents will complain about an immediate neighbor's sign for a legitimate yard sale if the sign is not unsightly and is taken down within the hour after your sale has concluded.

Limits. Fairfax County limits yard/garage sales ((254**) to twice a year and limits them to items not specifically purchased for resale.

For Sale signs on autos and boats in the driveway or on the street are not attractive. There are places for selling such items. Please see FOR SALE.
